Management Team

AUSTEN ONIWON, CHAIRMAN

Mr. Oniwon is the former Group Managing Director (GMD) Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He started his working career with the NNPC in 1977 and rose to become Head, Planning of the Warri Refining and Petrochemicals Company in 1987. From 1988 to 1991 he was the Technical Assistant to the Group Executive Director (GED), Downstream and later Head, Engineering and Technical Services Department (ETSD) of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company from 1991-1992. That same year Oniwon was made Head, New Business Development, Corporate Planning and Development Division a post he held until his appointment as Head, ETSD at the Port Harcourt Refinery from 1993-1999.

 

From 1999-2000 Mr. Oniwon held fort as General Manager, Information System, Engineering and Technology Directorate before moving on to function as both Senior Technical Assistant to the GMD and GM, Information Systems Department at the GMD’s office. In 2003, he was appointed the Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the NNPC before moving on to the Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited as Managing Director between 2003- 2006. Between 2006 and 2009, he served as the Group General Manager of NNPC R&D Division, where he successfully steered the division to ISO-9001 certification. In 2009 he was appointed Group Executive Director in charge of Refining and Petrochemicals Directorate, a position he held until he was appointed the GMD in May 2010.

 

He is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, FNSChE, and Fellow Chemical Society of Nigeria among others. Oniwon holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He also holds a Diploma in Business Management from the prestigious International Institute for Management Development (IMD) Lausanne, Switzerland and Executive Programs at Harvard University, USA, he also holds a Diploma Petroleum Management from Oxford College of Petroleum Studies, UK. He is the founder of Adonas Energy Services Limited.

JOHN B. ADELIYI, DIRECTOR

Mr. Adeliyi has several years of industry experience as Facilities Project Engineer and Manager with adept experience working and consulting for major E&P Oil and Gas companies. Expertise includes offshore fixed and floating deep-water production, onshore gas gathering, compression and processing, petrochemical facilities and Pipeline Integrity Management.

Mr. Adeliyi previously worked as a Facilities Engineer with National Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO) Lagos, Nigeria – a subsidiary of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He left the shores of Nigeria in 2002 to acquire technical competence to improve the oil & gas industry in Nigeria. He worked with several oil & gas firms in the gulf coast of United State of America, where he displayed his ingenuity, technical expertise and entrepreneurship drive. To have a right launch base for transfer skill and technical knowledge back to Nigeria, he costarted Venice Engineering & Consulting, LLC, which has blossomed exponentially with a handful of affiliate business entities like, Venice Engineering & Consulting, a Limited Liability Company. He is an accomplished business executive with great acumen for contracting and risk mitigation strategies. Mr. Adeliyi holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a member of Project Management Institute (PMI).

ANTONIO P. FERNANDEZ JR., DIRECTOR

Engr. Fernandez Jr. has experience working as a Pipeline Engineer. His responsibilities include project estimation, stress analysis, flow assurance, route selection, and pipeline design.

 

As a civil engineering associate working with US Federal Emergency Management Authority he handled various compliance issues. His software expertise includes HEC-RAS Hydrologic Engineering Centre River Analysis, HEC-HMS Hydrologic Engineering Centre Hydraulic Modelling, ESRI/ Arc MAP, and AutoCAD and Microstation. He is well versed in onshore pipeline codes and regulations, 49 CFR 192, 49 CFR 195, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, ASME B31.8 S, API SPEC 5L, API RP 1102.

 

With his entrepreneur agility, he co-started Venice Engineering & Consulting, LLC and has been core to its operations, leading the pipeline engineering projects.

 

Engr. Fernandez, Jr. holds Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and he is licensed as Professional Engineer in multiple state of the United States of America.

THEOPHILUS A. OGUNTALA, DIRECTOR

After receiving his masters degree in chemical Engineering in 1980, Engr. Oguntala joined Exxon Refinery in Billings, Montana USA as a refinery engineer providing technical services in the areas of monitoring, trouble shooting and process specification. In 1985, he joined the Warri Refinery, a subsidiary of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as a senior process engineer.

 

In 1989 Engr. Oguntala was deployed to the National Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO) to further continued his engineering career as a process/project engineer. For over seventeen (17) years, he successfully carried out process design works and managed many Oil and Gas projects contributing immensely to the achievements of the company. He also acquired a lot of managerial skills and rose to become the Engineering Manager, supervising the works of over two hundred and thirty multidisciplinary engineers.

 

In 2005, Engr. Oguntala was assigned as NNPC member of the Contract Advisory Group (CAG) of the Joint Venture Olokola LNG (OKLNG) Company. He was later seconded to the company as the Project Manager of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) resident team in KBR/JGC office in London. He was later appointed the Technical Manager (Nigeria office) of the OKLNG in the post-FEED activities of the project.

 

In 2011, he returned to NNPC as the General Manager of NIGAZ Energy Company Limited (NECL), another joint venture gas company of NNPC and GAZPROM. He retired from service in July 2011.

 

Engr. Oguntala is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, FNSE, the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, FNSChE and a member of Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, COREN. He holds BSChe (Washington State University USA, 1978), MSChE (University of Idaho, USA, 1980) and MBA (University of Lagos, 1995).

AMENAGHAWON S. OKUNDIGIE, DIRECTOR

Engr. Amenaghawon Sly Okundigie is a former Group General Manager, Regulatory & Policy Compliance Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

 

He was employed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in 1981 as a Chemical Engineer in the then Gas Division of NNPC which later metamorphosed into the Nigerian Gas Company Limited during the subsidiarization exercise of NNPC in 1988.

 

Since 1981, Engineer Okundigie has been actively engaged in the upstream, midstream and downstream aspects of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry particularly in natural gas development. In the course of his career in NNPC, Engineer Okundigie worked in several capacities in operations & maintenance, market research, engineering and project management. He also performed as specialist process engineer in various natural gas supply projects (Escravos-Lagos Pipeline, Oben-Ajaokuta, Aladja Gas Pipeline System, Obigbo North-Afam, Lagos Industrial Area Supply, West African Gas Pipeline etc.) and served in several managerial positions.

 

Engineer Okundigie was once the Senior Technical Assistant to the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC; assisting top management in addressing policy and management issues.

 

Engr. Okundigie is a COREN registered/practicing engineer and a member of several professional bodies; the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Nigerian Gas Association and Society of Energy Economists.

 

He holds an MSc degree from the Higher Institute of Chemical Engineering Sofia Bulgaria and MBA from the University of Benin. Engineer Okundigie also has a degree in law (LLB) from Ekpoma University.

MARK MACKEY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & SAFETY (HES) MANAGER

Mr. Mackey is well vast in environmental assessment issues and mitigation. Experienced with NEPA, CWA, TCEQ, and FERC permitting requirements and planning for pipeline route expansions. Specialized in handling and avoiding any permitting issues that may arise as well as permitting with FERC. He is certified as Wetland Delineator, as well as a Lifetime coach.

 

Some of his past projects have involved the preparation of USACE Nationwide Permit 12 Pre-Construction Notification, Water Acquisition Permit Application, States General Land Office (GLO) permits, Wetland Assessment, Wetland Delineation, Threatened and Endangered Species Assessment, Preconstruction Notification Report writing for USACE permits, as well as preparation of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.

JOE VICKERY, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Mr. Vickrey is an accomplished Business Development leader. His past experience involved representing large corporations in the Oil, Gas and Pipeline business line, and was also responsible for client development and management in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Montana, North and South Dakota. Markets served included the Niorbrara, Piceance, Baaken, and Williston Basins.

 

Currently with Venice Engineering and Consulting, LLC (VEC) he is leveraging his expertise with the oil, gas and pipeline operating and development firms in the Rocky Mountain Region from VEC office located in South West Metro Denver, Colorado. As Business Development Manager, he represents VEC capabilities for design/engineering, O&M, survey and mapping and technical project management.
